Colour Focus: Pastels

March is already here and that means Spring is near! When we think of Spring colours, one particular colour palette always comes to mind.. Pastels!

When we think of pastels, not only do we think of the neighbourhood in Edward Scissorhands and Cadbury's mini eggs (yum!) we picture gorgeous minty greens, blush pinks, luscious lilacs and powder blues. Pastels can look stunning when paired with neutral colours and contrast well with bold colours too. Here are our tips on how to introduce pastels into your home this Spring!

Pale blue is such a calming yet elegant colour that looks stunning with whites, blacks and greys.

It can also contrast well with bold colours like navy, teal, purple and blush pinks. Pairing a floral Roman blind like Buckingham Forget me not from our range (picture above) with a navy sofa, house plants and blush pink accessories will create a calming yet luxurious feel to your living space.

Mint green can look amazing if styled correctly and contrasts beautifully against blacks, whites and lilacs. If you would like to create a soft vibe, pairing a plain mint green blind like 'Desire Jade' with lilac or purple curtains, white walls and matching ornaments and decor can add a hint of colour without feeling too bright or harsh.

On the other hand, if you would like to create more of a bold appearance in your space, our 'Mint' Aluminium Venetian blinds would look stunning in a black and white kitchen with a mint SMEG fridge, kettle & toaster and a bohemian themed rug. This colour scheme would also work perfectly against wooden surfaces and features.

Lilac is the type of colour that looks it's best against neutral white and cream tones but also can look great against minty greens.

Starting with a neutral base colour in your room and adding in floral accents like 'Henley Lavendar' (picture above) along with silky textures, floral bedding or cushions and lavendar plants can create a traditional and elegant look to your bedroom. On the otherhand, for more of a modern spin on lilac, you could pair a black and white themed room with lilac accents to add a subtle pop of colour e.g. lavendar flowers/plants, lampshade, cushions, candles or rugs.

Yellow can be seen as quite a controversial colour for decorating your home... But if you choose the right tone and pair it with complimenting colours - it can look so unique and lift your mood as soon as you enter your home.

Pale yellows look gorgeous with grey accents and can create such a modern and fun look to your space - a charcoal grey sofa accessorised with yellow cushions with pretty prints, chunky throws, large floor plants and a simple yet elegant Roman blind, like 'Eton Lemon' (pictured above) will create the perfect living space for you and your friends and family to enjoy and chill out.

Blush pink has been extremely popular in the interior design world the past few years and we can definitely understand why - the colour goes with nearly every colour and is absolutely stunning!

It can be the perfect colour to style a bedroom or a living area and contrasts beautifully against greys, whites, navy blues and teals and sage green. We think it looks it's best when used in blinds, curtains, throw blankets and rugs against grey decor and plenty of greenery. Our roof window blind 'Bramble Flower' would look gorgeous in a bedroom (pictured above) and we also love 'Eton Rose (also picture above) for both living rooms and bedroom window coverings.
